About The College

The Federal College of Education, Yola, was established in 1974, as a middle level teacher training institution. Hitherto, it was known as Federal Advanced Teachers’ College (FATC), Yola. However, actual academic activities commenced during the 1975/1976 session, with a total of one hundred and fifty (150) students under the leadership of the Pioneer Principal Mr. C. Pollock, an expatriate. At that time, the College was under the supervision of Federal Ministry of Education. Mr. Pollock as the pioneer Principal laid a solid foundation for the smooth take off of the College. He completed his tenure in 1982.

FROM THE PROVOST

Welcome to the Federal College of Education Yola, Adamawa State, North East Nigeria. We are located between Yola town, the capital city of Adamawa State, and Jimeta, where the seat of government is situated. This location gives us a cultural, social and geographical advantage as we serve as a bridge between the two cities and provide a conclusive teaching and learning environment and atmosphere for our students, staff and visitors.

Since 1974 when the College was established as Advanced Teachers College, through its metamorphosis to Federal College Of Education in 1989 to date, FCE Yola, has kept the promise of being a teacher training institute of repute in the sub-region as it has produced uncountable VIPs who have made their marks nationally and internationally. This is because of our believe in commitment to teaching, integrity in learning and dignity in service. This is our hallmark.

Let me use this opportunity to congratulate our students for seeking their trust in us, especially the incoming ones, for selecting the Federal College Of Education, Yola, as your preferred destination for learning. We believe this choice is borne out of your desire to be associated with the excellence for which FCE Yola is known. As you settle down to learn, ‘savour our menus’ in the Arts and Social Sciences, Early Childhood Care, Languages, Non-Formal and Special Education, Vocational Education and Applied Sciences.
